How to Display Javascript in Posts

Sep 30th, 2008 Posted in About the Site, Tools on the internet, Websites | 4 comments »

When you try to display adsense using the original javascript code, it doesn’t show up, because wordpress posts do not have javascript enabled.

A common question has always been, how do you display adsense in wordpress posts?

The reason we would want to do this is because it is a proven fact that ads that blend in with content get clicked on more often. Viewers tend to filter out ads that look like ads, but if ads become part of the content, they will either click because they confuse the ads with a link or because they see the ad and are actually interested.

Instead of adsense, you may use this method to display any javascript code. I am just going to use adsense as an example for simplicity purposes.
It is easy to display ads in a wordpress post! See? I’m doing it right here!

A simple plugin can help you do what I just did above. Visit the Adsense-Deluxe plugin site if you wish to download it or download it directly here.

Unzip the archive and upload the adsense-deluxe.php file to your plugins directory. I am going to skip how to install the optional stuff for WYSIWYG editing, but you can visit the plugin’s site if you wish to learn how to install the extras.

After uploading the file, go to the plugins panel and activate the plugin.

To input your code, click on options, adsensedeluxe, and create an adsense block by pasting your adsense code where it says to. I recommend a half banner or something smaller so your ads can fit and blend in better with your posts. You may create multiple blocks if you wish, but I only use one. To display your default block, simply insert your code’s ID (will be generaged by the plugin) in the html editor, and your ads will show up in our post.

One Space After A Period

I thank this article on savvy Tech Tips for this information. I loved this article, because I have always put one space after sentences, but my out of date Internet Technology and Computers (had to take it for graduation) class insisted that we were supposed to have two.

How many spaces do you put after a sentence? If you’ve taken a typing class, then you were probably taught to put two spaces after a period. Two spaces are an old-fashioned method for typewriters, because letters were all the same width, and two spaces were needed so there was no question about the end of a sentence. That’s the only reason why anyone ever put two space after a period. Computers now adjust the width of letters naturally, so only one space is necessary after a period. Pick up any magazine or book and take a look, and it will have one.

Some Paradoxes

I read over some of my philosophy notes from last summer, and they seemed interesting again. I was especially focusing on paradoxes.

This statement is false.
Ok, if this statement is in fact false, then the statement that this statement is false must be true.
Fine then, let’s pretend that the statement is actually true. If we assume the statement to be true, then it must be true that it is false.

The problem with relativism
There are no real truths in life. Everything is simply relative.
My teacher hated relativism with a passion. The theory of relativism is self-contradictory. If there are no real consistencies, then why does relativism itself deserve to be consistent?

Grelling’s Paradox
A word is considered autological if it describes itself. For example, polysyllabic is a polysyllabic word and is therefore autological.
All other words (those that do not describe themselves) are considered heterological.
What about the word heterological itself?
If we treat heterological as an autological word, then it should describe itself. Thus, heterological is heterological if we try to treat it as autological.
If we treat it as a heterological word, then it must not describe itself. Thus, the word heterological can’t be heterological if we were to count it as heterological.

Russell’s paradox
M is defined as the set of all sets that do not contain themselves as members.
In other words, in order for A to be a member of M if and only if it is not a member of A

M cannot be a properly defined set. If M contains itself, then it cannot be a member of M. If it does not contain itself, then it has to be a member of M. M cannot both be and not be a member of M.

Strongest Shield and Sword Paradox
A seemingly omnipotent weapon and armour maker claims that he can make the best shields and swords possible.
His shield is the strongest on earth. Nothing can penetrate it
The sword is the strongest on earth. There is nothing that it cannot penetrate.
What would happen if we tried to stick his sword through his shield?
